Industrial Door Contractors

Industrial Door Contractors, Inc. was officially incorporated in 1983 and has been growing ever since. The founder, Woody Dillard, gained experience in hangar door design throughout the 1970s before starting IDC in 1983. Beginning with just a handful of team members, IDC quickly started to gain a commendable reputation and established its building philosophy. Today, the company remains under the leadership Woody Dillard as well as his son, Ward. Industrial Door Contractors, Inc. is a full service industrial and specialty door company (including airplane hangar doors and blast doors).  From engineering and design to manufacturing and installation, IDC carefully manages each critical stage of every project. IDC consistently builds what is considered to be the best door in the business as evidenced by its extensive experience list and past performance surveys. IDC has been in business for 27 years and is currently the largest manufacturer of hangar doors and blast doors in the United States. IDC’s website (www.hangardoor.com) illustrates past projects and the quality that comes with each job.  All doors (and most hardware) are fabricated at the 63,000 square foot Columbia, TN location by seasoned employees. Having a combination of highly skilled employees and the most technologically advanced tools and machines, IDC is able to build the best. Specifications are followed to the letter to ensure that quality, strength and wind load requirements are met. Simply put, every employee has an unwavering commitment and stands behind what they do.

With a staff of over 75 employees onsite, including welders, engineers, 5 installation crews, administration and sales staff, the Columbia, TN based operation ensures that every door leaving the site (by truck or rail) exceeds the standards required by its clients, military or corporate. The military has been a tremendous tool for IDC’s growth and has helped IDC establish its reputation.  Projects can be seen not only on most military bases in the United States, but in several international projects as well, including Mongolia, Egypt, Afghanistan, Jordan, Qatar and Guam. Governmental projects include The Smithsonian Air and Space Restoration Center, NASA, and The Blue Angels incorporated IDC doors. Corporations such as Embraer, Delta, Fedex, Northwest, Lockheed Martin, and Proctor & Gamble haven chosen hangar doors by Industrial Door Contractors, Inc.

The long standing relationship between Namasco and IDC began 16 years ago when Namasco’s Inside Sales Manager, Marie Morphis, made a phone call to IDC’s purchasing department. Ever since then, the relationship has grown to be one of Namasco’s top accounts. In turn, Namasco is one of IDC’s top vendors, providing steel plate and structural steel such as beams, channel, and angles. During a recent visit to IDC, Sandy Potts, IDC Steel Procurement Manager, told the Namasco outside Sales Representative, Drew Dobbins, “we really enjoy working with a steel company such as Namasco because of the excellent service, competitive pricing, and the strong emphasis that is placed on relationships, which is very important in our business.”

People working together to achieve one common goal is a large part of a company’s success. Every day, people like Marie Morphis (Namasco Sales Manager), Drew Dobbins (Namasco outside Sales Representative), and Sandy Potts (IDC Steel Procurement Manager) work together closely to achieve their company’s goals. Through teamwork, dedication, and quality, Namasco and Industrial Door Contractors are looking forward to working together for many more years to come.
